Championing inclusive, responsive, and participatory governance across East Africa

Creating inclusive, participatory governance by amplifying marginalized voices

At Kwe Trust, we champion inclusive, responsive, and participatory governance across East Africa, grounded in the belief that resilient democracies are built through the active agency of all citizens.

Our focus lies in empowering women, youth, and marginalized groups to shape decision-making at local, national, and regional levels. We advance women’s political empowerment through a feminist lens—dismantling systemic barriers, addressing all forms of violence, and protecting their digital and human rights. We invest in transformative female leadership through mentorship, advocacy, and capacity-building programs that equip women with the tools to lead and drive change.

We also strengthen youth engagement in governance, providing critical life skills, financial literacy, and platforms for young people to influence policy and advocate for their rights.

By amplifying community voices in development and policy planning, and working closely with both state and non-state actors, we foster inclusive, equitable governance. Our ultimate goal is to build democratic societies where women and youth lead the way in shaping a just, prosperous, and rights-respecting future.
